School Finance Manager

Overview

Mitchell Adam are pleased to be working with a well-regarded and progressive not-for-profit organisation who are looking to appoint a School Finance Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of their finance function. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on finance professional who enjoys variety and responsibility, combining structured financial management with the chance to play an important role within a supportive and community-focused environment.

Working closely with senior leadership and governors, you’ll take ownership of core finance operations while ensuring accurate and timely reporting across the school. Your responsibilities will include managing ledgers and reconciliations, overseeing VAT processes, and producing clear month-end reports that support decision-making. You’ll also play a key role in budgeting cycles, financial planning and maintaining strong financial controls, while acting as a trusted point of contact for financial queries across the organisation.

Skills Needed

* Previous experience within a finance role; experience in education, charity or the wider public sector would be advantageous.
* Strong understanding of VAT processes, including preparation and submission of returns.
* Confident managing ledgers, reconciliations and producing accurate management information.
* Highly organised with the ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise effectively.
