Professional Services – Management Accountant

Mitchell Adam are proud to be partnering with a highly regarded and well-established law firm based in Birmingham, who are looking to appoint a technically strong Management Accountant to join their respected finance function. This role presents an excellent opportunity for a polished and commercially aware finance professional with experience in a professional services or practice environment, who is looking to operate within a high-performing and quality-driven organisation.

Working closely with senior finance leadership and departmental stakeholders, you will take ownership of the management accounts process while contributing meaningful financial insight across the firm. The position requires a technically capable accountant who is comfortable operating in a professional environment where accuracy, attention to detail and the ability to interpret financial performance are highly valued.

You will be responsible for producing detailed monthly management accounts including full P&L and balance sheet reporting, maintaining strong balance sheet control through reconciliations and review procedures, and preparing variance analysis with clear commentary for senior leadership. Alongside core reporting, you will work closely with partners and operational leaders across the firm, providing financial analysis, supporting budgeting and forecasting cycles, and offering commercially focused insight to help inform strategic and operational decision-making.

Skills Needed

* Proven experience producing full management accounts within a professional services, legal or practice-based environment.
* Strong technical grounding across balance sheet management, reconciliations, financial reporting and variance analysis.
* Experience supporting budgeting and forecasting processes with the ability to provide clear financial commentary.
* Confident communicator capable of partnering with senior stakeholders and translating financial information effectively.
