Management Accountant

Overview

Mitchell Adam are delighted to be partnering with a highly regarded legal services firm based in Birmingham City Centre to recruit a Management Accountant into their growing finance function. This is a fantastic opportunity for a part-qualified or finalist accountant looking to join a business where finance is viewed as a genuine partner to the wider organisation. Offering far more than a traditional month-end role, this position combines technical accounting with commercial exposure, giving you the opportunity to influence decisions while continuing to develop your management accounting expertise.

Working as part of a high-performing finance team, you’ll take ownership of the monthly management accounts process for a number of business areas, ensuring reporting is accurate, insightful and delivered to a consistently high standard. Beyond producing the numbers, you’ll investigate movements in performance, provide meaningful commentary, and work closely with stakeholders to help them understand the financial story behind the results. You’ll also contribute to budgeting and forecasting cycles, giving you exposure to the planning side of finance alongside core reporting.

This role is designed for someone who enjoys improving processes as much as producing reports. You’ll have the opportunity to refine reporting packs, enhance financial analysis and become increasingly involved in business partnering across the firm. Supported by experienced finance leaders, you’ll gain exposure to senior decision-makers while building the commercial awareness and technical capability needed to progress into a more senior management accounting or finance business partnering position.

Skills Needed

• Experience preparing management accounts, including journals, reconciliations and balance sheet reporting.
• Confident analysing P&L performance and producing meaningful variance commentary.
• Part-qualified or finalist ACCA, CIMA or ACA with ambitions to continue progressing professionally.
• Strong Excel skills and an interest in improving reporting, analysis and finance processes.
• Excellent communication skills with the confidence to build relationships across finance and the wider business.
