Management Accountant

Overview

Mitchell Adam are working with a highly respected Birmingham-based Professional Services firm to appoint a technically capable Management Accountant into their established finance team. The firm has built an excellent reputation within the sector and is seeking an individual who can operate with the same level of precision, professionalism and commercial awareness. This role would suit a confident accountant from a legal, practice or wider professional services background who is looking to contribute within a structured and high-performing environment.

The successful candidate will play a central role in the firm’s financial reporting and performance analysis. You will lead the preparation of monthly management accounts, delivering detailed P&L and balance sheet reporting supported by clear variance analysis and commentary. Alongside core reporting responsibilities, you will work closely with partners and departmental leaders across the firm, supporting budgeting and forecasting cycles, analysing departmental performance and providing financial insight that supports operational and strategic decision-making.

Skills Needed

• Proven experience producing full management accounts within a professional services, legal or practice-based environment.
• Strong technical grounding across balance sheet management, reconciliations, financial reporting and variance analysis.
• Experience supporting budgeting and forecasting processes with the ability to provide clear financial commentary.
• Confident communicator capable of partnering with senior stakeholders and translating financial information effectively.
