Are you an experienced Financial Controller ready to hit the ground running in a fast-paced FMCG environment? We’re a high-growth consumer goods business based in South Birmingham, and we’re looking for an immediate hire to lead our finance function through a critical phase of systems transformation and team development.

The Opportunity:

This is a key leadership role with both strategic and hands-on responsibilities. You’ll oversee day-to-day finance operations while driving improvements across systems, controls, and reporting. A major focus will be delivering a finance systems implementation project and strengthening team structure and capability as we continue to scale.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the finance function, overseeing financial reporting, month-end close, cash flow, and compliance
  • Own the successful implementation and integration of a new finance system (ERP or cloud-based platform)
  • Review and improve internal controls, processes, and reporting to support business growth
  • Manage and mentor a small but growing finance team, fostering a culture of ownership and continuous development
  • Business partner with senior leadership to support decision-making and operational performance
  • Ensure accurate stock accounting, margin analysis, and cost control in line with FMCG demands
  • Liaise with external advisors, auditors, and stakeholders to maintain strong financial governance

About You:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar senior finance role
  • FMCG or manufacturing background essential, ideally with multi-channel exposure (retail, wholesale, D2C)
  • Hands-on experience with finance system implementations or major system upgrades (NetSuite, SAP, Sage Intacct, etc.)
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing finance teams
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organisational skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment
  • Available immediately or on short notice
