Our client, a well-respected independent school in South Birmingham, is seeking a proactive and detail-driven HR Manager to join their supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR professional, whether stepping up into management or already running a standalone function, to bring structure, clarity, and consistency to a thriving school environment. Reporting directly to the Bursar, you’ll play a central role in ensuring robust HR operations and guiding staff and leadership with confident, compliant advice.
In this varied and hands-on role, you’ll oversee all core HR processes, including maintaining the Single Central Register, managing enhanced DBS checks, and supporting employee relations matters with professionalism and care. You’ll take ownership of recruitment, onboarding, workforce records, and day-to-day HR administration, all while contributing to longer-term people initiatives. Skills Needed
- A solid background in HR, ideally with experience in a school or wider education environment.
- Confident handling safeguarding-aligned processes, including enhanced DBS checks and upkeep of the Single Central Register.
- Strong organisational ability with excellent attention to detail, particularly around compliance and record management.
- Experience supporting or leading on employee relations matters with professionalism and discretion.
- The ability to run HR processes independently, making sound decisions within a smaller team structure.
