  • Summary

I’m partnering exclusively with a high-growth, privately owned business in Crewe to appoint a commercially focused and technically strong Head of Finance.

This is an excellent opportunity for a practice-trained accountant, ideally a second-time mover from a Big 4 or Top 10 firm, to take on a senior leadership role with meaningful responsibility and real scope for impact.

The business is in a strong position, having experienced consistent double-digit growth, and is now entering a new phase of operational maturity. With investment in systems, infrastructure, and leadership, finance is being positioned as a true strategic partner to the wider business.

About the Role

You’ll work closely with the Managing Director and senior leadership team, leading the day-to-day finance function while driving improvements in reporting, controls, and insight.

This is a hands-on leadership role that balances technical rigour with commercial decision support. You’ll be given the autonomy to shape the function, modernise processes, and support the business in its next phase of growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements (IFRS/UK GAAP)

  • Manage the external audit process and relationships with advisors

  • Oversee financial controls, risk management, and regulatory compliance

  • Deliver accurate and insightful financial reporting to inform business decisions

  • Lead and develop a small, high-performing finance team

  • Drive process improvement, systems development, and reporting efficiency

  • Support on M&A activity, investment planning, and wider finance projects

About You

  • ACA or ACCA qualified, trained in a Big 4 or Top 10 firm

  • Likely a second-time mover or in your first senior finance leadership role in industry

  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, audit, and compliance

  • Comfortable operating at pace, managing competing priorities, and improving systems

  • Able to engage confidently with stakeholders and lead a finance team effectively

  • Hands-on, detail-focused, and commercially aware

Why Apply

This is a career-defining opportunity for someone ready to move from practice into a broader, more strategic role – or to take their next step up in industry. You’ll be joining a fast-moving business at an exciting point in its journey, with the freedom to shape finance from within and the support to grow your own career alongside it.
