re you a technically strong, commercially minded finance leader ready to take the next step towards a FD role?
Our client – a high-growth, private equity-backed business at an exciting stage of expansion – is looking for a Finance Controller who can combine first-class technical capability with real commercial acumen.

This is more than a reporting role – it’s a potential Finance Director position, offering genuine exposure to senior leadership, investors, and strategic decision-making.

The Role

Reporting directly to the CFO, you’ll play a key role in leading the finance function day to day while driving performance and supporting growth initiatives across the group. You’ll own financial control and reporting, but you’ll also have a strong FP&A and business partnering focus – helping shape the strategic direction of the business.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading month-end, management accounts, and statutory reporting

  • Developing and owning budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow models

  • Providing detailed commercial analysis and insight to support key decisions

  • Partnering with operations and commercial teams to drive profitability and efficiency

  • Strengthening financial controls, systems, and processes in line with PE expectations

  • Supporting M&A activity, investment appraisals, and integration workstreams

  • Acting as a key point of contact for auditors, banks, and investors

About You

You’re a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with a strong grounding in technical finance – but you’re not content staying in the back office. You’re commercially curious, confident around senior stakeholders, and thrive in fast-moving, change-oriented environments.

We’re looking for:

  • Strong technical foundation (likely ACA trained, ideally with post-qualification experience in industry)

  • Proven experience in both financial control and FP&A / business partnering

  • Exposure to private equity, leveraged, or high-growth environments

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence at board level

  • A proactive, hands-on approach – comfortable working in a dynamic, scaling business

  • Ambition to progress to Finance Director / CFO level in the near future

The Opportunity

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a PE-backed business on an upward trajectory, where finance sits at the heart of decision-making. You’ll work closely with a highly experienced CFO, gaining direct mentorship and exposure to investors – positioning yourself as a future CFO within a PE environment.
