An established and highly acquisitive services business based in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join its central finance team on an interim basis. This role is ideal for a qualified accountant who is detail-oriented and thrives in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.

You’ll be leading a finance team of 8, including 3 direct reports, and will play a key role in consolidating and overseeing financial data from across the operational finance functions. This is a hands-on position with a strong emphasis on financial accounting rather than traditional controlling, making it well-suited to someone who enjoys the technical and compliance aspects of finance.

Within this role you will be responsible for; leading the preparation of monthly management accounts and statutory financial statements, consolidating financial information from operational teams to ensure accuracy and completeness, managing the month-end close process, including balance sheet reconciliations and accruals as well as ensuring financial controls and procedures are maintained and improved where necessary.

Ideally, you will:

  • Be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with Previous experience managing and developing finance teams.
  • Have proven experience in a financial accounting-focused role and a strong understanding of financial reporting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Have excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Be proficient in financial systems and Excel.
