Finance Analyst

Overview

Mitchell Adam are delighted to be partnering with a growing organisation who are looking to appoint a Finance Analyst into their established FP&A team. If you’re a part-qualified CIMA or ACCA accountant who wants to move away from simply producing numbers and get closer to the decisions behind them, this is a role worth looking at. You’ll have genuine exposure to operational leaders, commercial performance and the forward planning of the business, giving you the opportunity to build the kind of experience that can really accelerate your career.

A significant part of the role will see you working directly with site-based stakeholders, taking them through their P&L performance, budgets and forecasts. You’ll need to understand what is happening beneath the numbers, explain the key drivers in a way that makes sense to non-finance colleagues and provide constructive challenge where required. It’s an opportunity to develop the confidence and commercial awareness that comes from being genuinely embedded within the areas of the business you support.

The other side of the role sits within FP&A, where you’ll be involved in analysing commercial performance and helping the business look ahead. You’ll investigate revenue, costs and profitability, produce ad hoc analysis and reporting for senior stakeholders, and play an active role in building budgets and forecasts. With a good balance between stakeholder exposure, analytical work and forward-looking finance, you’ll develop a broad commercial skillset rather than becoming narrowly focused in one area.

Skills Needed

• Part-qualified CIMA or ACCA with a solid grounding in finance and a clear ambition to develop within commercial finance.
• Experience working with P&L information, budgets and forecasts, with an understanding of how financial performance links to operational activity.
• Strong Excel and analytical skills, with the ability to interrogate data, identify trends and explain the story behind the numbers.
• Confident and commercially minded communicator who can build credibility with non-finance stakeholders and provide constructive challenge.
