Finance Analyst

Overview

Mitchell Adam are delighted to be partnering with a well-established organisation looking to appoint a Finance Analyst into its growing Finance Systems team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in finance or accounting who has a natural interest in data, systems and technology, and wants to take their career in a more analytical and systems-focused direction.

Rather than focusing solely on traditional month-end reporting, this role will see you working at the intersection of finance, data and systems. You’ll investigate financial data and system queries, identify inconsistencies, explore ways to improve reporting and help ensure finance systems are operating effectively. You’ll also have the opportunity to get involved in wider business change projects, supporting system developments and helping translate finance requirements into practical, effective solutions. Experience with BI tools, data visualisation or reporting platforms would be particularly useful, although a strong understanding of finance and a willingness to learn are just as important.

You’ll work closely with finance teams, non-finance stakeholders and external partners, giving you a broad view of how systems and data support a large organisation. This is a role for someone who enjoys getting into the detail, working through problems and finding better ways of doing things. With ongoing systems development and opportunities to build your technical knowledge, it offers a distinctive career path for an accountant looking to develop beyond traditional finance.

Skills Needed

• Experience in finance, accounting or financial analysis, with a good understanding of financial processes and how accounting data is used.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate discrepancies, identify root causes and develop solutions.

• An interest in finance systems, data analysis and reporting tools, with experience using BI platforms or data visualisation tools advantageous.

• Confident communicator, able to work collaboratively with finance and non-finance colleagues to understand issues and improve processes.

• AAT qualified, studying towards ACCA/CIMA, holding another relevant qualification, or QBE with suitable finance experience.
