Credit Controller

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Credit Controller to join a successful and growing organisation based in Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working within a busy finance environment, taking ownership of their ledger and building strong relationships with customers.

You’ll be responsible for managing a portfolio of customer accounts, proactively chasing outstanding debt, resolving queries, allocating payments and maintaining accurate account records. Working closely with both customers and internal teams, you’ll help ensure invoices are paid on time while providing a professional and solutions-focused service.

Skills Required

• Previous experience within Credit Control or Accounts Receivable, with confidence managing your own customer ledger.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to confidently chase outstanding payments and handle challenging conversations professionally.
• Experience managing aged debt, prioritising accounts and taking a proactive approach to reducing overdue balances.
• Good attention to detail when investigating discrepancies, allocating cash and reconciling customer accounts.
• Ability to work closely with internal teams to resolve invoice and payment queries efficiently.
• Good Excel and IT skills, with experience using finance or accounting systems.
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage a busy workload and consistently meet deadlines.
• A proactive and commercially minded approach, with the motivation to achieve collection targets and contribute to the wider success of the finance team.
