A well established and highly regarded business is currently seeking a proactive and detail driven individual to join their finance function as an Accounts Payable Assistant. The successful Accounts Payable Assistant will support the end to end accounts payable process within a structured and collaborative finance team. You will manage the finance inbox, ensuring timely responses to suppliers and internal stakeholders, while processing stock, non-stock and property invoices alongside credit card returns, expenses and petty cash claims, ensuring accuracy and VAT compliance. Responsibilities will also include managing held invoices, completing supplier statement reconciliations and resolving discrepancies, preparing and processing payment runs within agreed terms, and posting and analysing cash receipts while escalating any issues where required. You will support month end through the preparation of prepayments and accruals, assist with sales import postings to ensure accurate information flow, and provide support and guidance to users of the purchase order, credit card and expenses systems. Maintaining accurate records and assisting with general administrative duties will also form part of the role. Strong attention to detail, organisation and communication skills are essential.

Ideally, you will:

  • Have experience in a finance or accounting support role, ideally within a transactional finance or accounts payable environment.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of core transactional finance processes and the importance of accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Be highly organised and detail focused, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities independently.
  • Possess strong Excel and financial systems skills, with the confidence to work across different platforms.
