Finance and Office Manager

Overview

Our client, a well-established and steadily growing services business based in Birmingham City Centre, is looking to appoint a hands-on Finance & Office Manager to play a central role in the day-to-day running of the business. This is a broad, practical role suited to someone who enjoys being involved, keeping things organised, and taking pride in making sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.

Working closely with the Finance Director and wider leadership team, you’ll take ownership of bookkeeping, month-end preparation, VAT, and ledger control, while also supporting the general office and operational administration of the business. From managing invoices and payments through to improving processes, coordinating suppliers, and being a go-to person internally, this role goes beyond finance and into the heartbeat of the company.

This is a true SME position for someone who enjoys variety, responsibility, and being trusted to get stuck in wherever needed.

Skills Needed

• Experience in bookkeeping or hands-on finance roles, ideally within an SME or owner-managed environment.

• Comfortable managing day-to-day finance tasks alongside wider office or operational responsibilities.

• A practical, organised approach with the confidence to take ownership and improve how things are done.

• Strong communication skills and a willingness to support the business beyond a defined job description.
